I broke my driver seat. First started to wiggle for a while and I figured it was just a loose bolt and I would tighten it when I got around to it. Time goes on and one day while I was getting out I heard a crunching sound and the seat fell back words. Today I finally took the seat out and found what the problem was that the front left bolt hole where the seat attaches to the frame tore off. I have no clue how to fix this and was looking for some help or advise. It doesn't look like I can just replace the metal bracket since it is riveted together. Also the opposite one is starting to bend from the seat rocking back and forth while it was broke. I attached a pic to try and help explain.

Classic metal fatigue. You might be able to fix it. See if you can find a local welder who can put it back together. Might be hard, though, nobody wants to repair stuff because of liablility. Start cruising the yards and look for a replacement seat. Even if the seat is trashed, you can likely salvage the rail.

You should also replace the other side as well cause that's going to break soon.

By the sound of it, it is just the seat rail that broke... Just go to the junkyard and pull a seat rail, both drivers side and passenger side are interchangable iirc... The are easy to do, you've got half the work done on your car with the picture.. but make sure you get the right year, as they position of the seatbelt anchors are different (89 and prior are anchored to the body, where the 90+ are mounted to the seat itself, which yours is..)
Just make sure you have a decent set of wrenches with, so you can get at the nuts while the seats are in the car in the junkyard, since you won't have power to raise the seats for easier access...

Take the frame off the floor first, flip the seat over, then separate the frame from the seat. Much easier.
Any good junk yard will have one of those rechargeable jump starters to momentarily run the seat motors if you have to have a little more clearance.

i had the EXACT same thing happen, i still havent fixed it and most likely never will but a junkyard would be your best choice i would think

Sounds like the seat base is broken. I called my local yard and they said they didn't have any bonnies in that body style. What model years will work? I have a 1991 LE with the powered 6 way driver seat and the seat belt is attached to the seat base. Does anyone have one that they might want to part with? My zip is 68352.

I think I might get to go to a yard in another town. Does anyone know what car years have the same seat base or rails as a 1991, somone said 1990 and up, but up to what? Does it matter what trim level it is? Because I thought the SSE's had a 9 way seat and mine is a 6 way. Can you tell a 6 way from a 9 way by looking at it? I hope I get a chance to go looking.

Well I tried fixing it wwith some JB weld. Sure enough it broke bofore I could even leave the driveway. So I guess it looks like I'm gonna need a new seat base after all.
