Default 89' SSE cold start problems

Howdy. It has started to get real cold here in LA.., LIKE 30'* AND 40'* in the am, and we have had some rain. My ride cranks and cranks, sputters and pops, but it has been taking awhile to start. It has become quite the pain having to start my day earlier as to give the car extra time to start. What am I to check? spark problem? fuel injection? fuel pump? If it is something easy, I will attempt, but if more involved, I guess its time to visit the mechanic..I would like a head'* up as to possible causes so I limit my out of pocket here...Thanks all...

it turned out to be a spark problem, mechanic suggested to change both the ignition coil and ignition module. We did both and what a difference! Starts right up, and I can drive almost immediately if I wanted, when before I would have to wait 5 minutes for her to warm up...but, and this could be a big but, but at the same time that we fixed the spark problem, now it seems the air flow sensor has taken a dive, as he showed me how bad it ran with it plugged in, and without it it runs perfectly and has power and everything. He can't answer why it went now, just offers they are delicate parts and who knows ??...I guess it could have been part of the problem too, and with it disconnected it runs fine. He said is safe to drive with it unplugged, do you agree? I plan to get a new one, but the $$$ cost has me wanting to wait until after the holidays are over. Thanks guys...
