Nothing worked at all, except the oil guage flickered when I put the blinker on...
I will try again, but I don't expect much...

Really need the Service Manual to swap clusters. The connector pinouts are in section 8A-81. For example with the DIC the RH turn signal indicator is on plug C1 pin B10 (DK Blu) and B1 is not used, without it is on B1 and B10 is not used. The oil pressure flicker could be a bad ground or might be because with the DIC the oil pressure sender goes to A17 (tan/blk) and without, A17 is for the dash lights (Gray).

Now I only have the pinouts for a '90, other years may be different but apparently the connectors are the same, just some pins go to different places. That said I have not tried with these specific connectors but with most, proper application of an .050 Jeweler'* screwdriver to depress the locking tab allows pins to be removed and swapped where necessary. I doubt that more than four or five would need to be moved.

However to know which pins to move, you would need to know
1) which cluster and what year it came out of
2) what it is going into

From this if you have the pinouts for both donor year and recipient, mapping the pins would be easy. Without it is impossible unless you really know the GM color code and acquired the connectors and a couple of inches of the harness from the donor.

Now I could scan and post the pages from my '90 manual but they will be big - 500kB - 1MB per page and my personal site is limited in size so would need a place to put them.

Might be interested to know that another GM specialty car group using the 3800 engine has scanned and compressed the entire Factory Service Manual for one model year - over 1100 pages - which is out of print at Helm and is in the process of seeking permission from GM to post it. I suspect that this may become a trend.

I have a cluster from an '87,with the tach, that I wanted to put into my '88 LE with no tach.
The speedometers on both range from 0-80 MPH, but the back of the '87 has way more wireing than mine, which is for all of the other gauges. If you can help me out with the wireing diagrams, it would be appreciated.

My earliest Bonne FSM is a '90 and it shows pinouts for three clusters: an "indicators" cluster with temp, gas, and speedo (section 8A-80 and three different "gages" clusters U21 with and without DIC, and U50 (SSE), all in 8A-81.

Apparently the "Low Fuel" is part of the DIC which our SE with steering wheel controls and ATC a/c does not have - anyone know when that was supplied ?

Personally, I believe the factory service manual should be a #1 priority for anyone planning to keep a car, particularly a modern computer car.

You may not be able to get everything to work, like some of the idiot lights and the lamp monitor, but you could at least make some of things that you need work, like the tachometer and some of the other gauges.
