Rear window defroster

HI everybody.. well.. it's getting cold out and the last couple of mornings I've needed my rear window defroster on to help me see out the back.. I haven't used it since the spring and I've noticed.. I push the switch.. the light comes on like the system is working but nothing much happens on the back window. Does anybody have idea if it's something simple? or where I might start checking?
The car is a 1988 SSE.. it's been taking very good care of .. has only 175,000 kms on it.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance

try the plug near the window if it has one. I dont have my 89 in front of me anymore

Also check fuses, the led on the dash may be ok but the fuse could be blown, since gm likes to put un-related items on the same circuits.

is there any difference in the window at all. could also be a bad relay.

rear window defroster

Hi and thanks for the replies.... I checked the fuses.. they are fine.. there is no difference in the back window at all.. as if no power was getting to it whatsoever..
I will locate and check the relay.. good idea. sooner or later.. I'll figure it out.. Anybody with other suggestions is also appreciated.. especially... where is the relay???

Thanks again!

Try position "C" in the relay center. That is what I'm showing for the defog relay in my 90 manual. When you press the defog button on the climate control, you should hear a little click. Same thing when you press it off.
