Default Who has the most miles on their 89-91 Bonneville ?

I have read in numerous reviews that I have researched of one getting over 365,000 and still runnin. I have also noticed numerous ones with over 200,000 and still runnin. I personally have 131,000+ on mine after buying it with 130,000+ on it. I am shooting for 150,000 on it since I paid $750.00 for it.The engine is very clean and the oil is unbelievebly clean also. The interior is immaculate. The exterior paint is faded on the trunk roof and hood badly from the Florida sun. This car is so smooth and I think it can go 200,000+. Does anyone know what a good price for a paint job is because besides that and a rear light cover this baby has got attitude. Thanks for all the replies.

don't leave out the '87 and '88s! My 87 only has 159 thousand miles,
i use the word 'Only' because i too have heard the numerous reports of peoploe with well over 200k miles on these bullet-proof monsters!

Default in canada

I actually read of one 89 getting over 565,000 and still runnin in Canada. Can it be true. My research shows that getting over 250,000 on the 89-91 Bonnevilles are very attainable.

Default Apology

I apologize for not including the 87 and 88'*. For whatever reason my research shows the 89-91 Bonnies are like unstoppable. I am sure the 87 and 88'* are also, not to mention the rest of them. In my opinion they are all cool.

I have 149 on mine also. She'* just broken.. . However, I know my engine will last forever, because I had a compression check last fall [a few thousand miles ago], and the cylinders were all close enough to each other that nothing was wrong [ stupid terms from my mom'* mechanic, I don't have the numbers]. Its my transmission I don't trust. Because I know that is going to be the first large mechanical failure [unless I do a top end rebuild like I am thinking, then the engine will be the first mechanical failur ]. I would say, keep some synthetic atf in that sucker at all times.. because if you keep that tranny happy, you keep your b'ville on the road!

SSE Bonnie4EVA and Randman 1, does it look like 200,000+ is attainable for you?
I am first shooting for 150,000 because I paid $750.00 and put nothing into it. If and when I get it, 200,000 is my next goal. So maybe a new paint job is something I should consider. The previous owner put a new tranny in it at 80,000 it has 131,000 now. I did some more research on the subject with 87'* and 88'* and it only enhanced my conviction that these automobiles are quite durable. 250,000 is definately not out of the question. Has anybody here reached 200,000?

I think there would be no doubt that my car could go 200k+. I had a 90 fullsize pickup that had 196k before it was t-boned and I neglected it. Semi-annual oil changes, sipnning tires whenever I got the chance, ect. My driving habits have calmed way down since then and I'm lucky to hit 75 on the highway.

I was so impressed the smoothness and spunk the motor has when I finally got it running. It has many more years left.

I don't think I will own it long enough to hit that mark though.

If your tranny only has 50k miles on it, then you've got one strong car. I am going to say you've got so much life in that car.. Just do the regular main. and that car will give you many years of happy service. A good quality paint job will cost more than the purchase price of the car, trust me. I have priced this all out, and the local shop here will do the whole thing start to finish for $1400. And that includes removing trim pieces, and painting door jams and any rust removal [rust, ha!]. Its up to you.. but I know I will be waiting till I start seeing primer or metal before I paint mine.
