Default solor panel charger

So my mom bought an '04 vw beetle, and it came with this solor panel thing, that when you plug it into the ligher port it'll charge the battery, well can I do this on my '89 bonneville? because she'* gonna be sitting for quite some time, and I don't own a charger, and thinking about a battery keeper like the coleman models to keep the battery in good shape 'till I can drive her.

Actually I just picked up a solar panel that I am gonna keep in my Malibu. I bought it cause when I had the windows tinted they killed the battery so I needed something to make sure it would start the next day even though I drove around and had it running for over an hours. It was about 30$ at Canadian Tire. it just sits on the dash and plugs into the cigarette lighter spot, so as long as yours is getting power to it you are fine. It actually looks similar to the ones that come with the VW. You can also wire it directly to the battery if you want. I am actually thinking of getting a second one for the Bonneville so it can keep the battery fully charged.

So long story short, yes you can get one for the car. Mine is only a 1.8 watt and you can get bigger but they go up higher in price.
