Default Cruise Control problems

Maybe you guys can help me with this problem on my 1987 Bonne. My Chilton'* manual gives me NO info on diagnosing or even installing / removing cruise control parts., it just shows one diagram on a few of the main parts and explains the basics of the system.. serves me right for not getting the service manual.. Anyway,
the cruise control doesn't work on my car. The switch for it is all part of my turn signal switch (as i imagine it is for us all) and I turn it on, drive to about 30+ mph (just to go above the minimum speed for activating it) then push the button to activate the cruise but absolutely nothing happens. Is there any dash lights that should come on telling you the cruis is ready to go (some newer cars have this)?
I looked under the hood of my car and checked the big cruise vacuum servo and if I make it work (manually as in my hand pushing it) the throttle does move as it should. I unplugged one of the vacuum hoses (the small one that connects to the servo with an elbow) and vacuum was running in it as it should and i put some soapy water on that same vacuum line and didn't see any air leaking. Anyone ever have this problem? Any suggestions for testing / fixing?

Thanks a lot guys

Brake switch need adjusting? My cruise didn't work a while back, I eventually found the switch and adjusted it, now it works fine.
