Default Passenger Door Lock

Ok, ever since i bought this car, the door will not lock by the power door locks. it also takes 2-3 presses of the switch to unlock it. it will lock and unlock manually just fine. my grandma'* 89 did the samething. never did figure out what was wrong.

Thanks,
Devon

mine does the same thing. sometimes the power locks work fine and the next moment they do nothing, not even click. my power seats as well. i havent found what is wrong yet. it almost seems like a broken wire or a loose connection but i dont think that is it...

just to add, theres alwas power getting there, when i press the lokc switch, the lock lever does jump a little bit, but it doesnt really move. where as when unlocking it, it will unlock around half way, and then it requires the lock button to be pressed again...

do all the doors do the same thing? it could be that the solenoids for the locking mechanism are weak. also it coud be friction inside the door, try to lubricate the rods and all the moving parts, maybe its just dirty inside

it sounds like an isolated problem. cleaning and lubing should do it

this happened to my rear passenger side door. WD-40 did the trick for a while. The promblem has to do with coiled wires in the cylinoid fuseing together, so a weaker magnetic field is created to thrust the metal dealy in the middle of it to lock and unlock it.
i think i just had mine replaced. havnet had any problems since.

That'* a new one- never had that- on this one or my 89. But either way still sounds like a loose connection- but what about the door lock button itself? maybe the contacts are dirty on the inside :?

Mine does the same thing on the driver door. I think it'* the whole locking mechanism getting rusted up! My complete passenger side door locking mechanisms are rusted so bad I had to disconnect the pwr locks and pull the exterior door rods(so you can't open the doors from the outside because they don't lock). I pulled them and they were rusted bad(mechanisms). When I open the driver door w/my key it'* very hard to do! Almost feels like the key will snap in the lock one day.

Default door locks

clean and lube the locks and try on a regular basis to use the outer button on the oustide of the door because 3 of my doors got stuck @ the same time. and it took some work to get them open, so I make sure to open my doors @ least one time per week. If your door locks stick, dont let anyone tell you it is electrical, because button underneath the outer
door buttons get stuck inward and you have to stick something flat down between the window and the door to release them.
