Default passenger side wiper wont move.?

hi club. i was driving my 88 back from the store on thanksgiven and it started to rain so i put my wipers on low and only the drivers side wiper was working so i then put my wipers on high and the only thing the passenger side wiper does is move up about a quarter inch then fall, it does this every time the driver side wiper wipe'*. i tried to see if i gave it apush if it would work and it id for about 4 or 5 wipes then it went back to doing the same thing.. winter is hear so i need my wipers to fully work for the snow.. any help would be highly appericated.. also if this helps i have double blade wipers on it but i dont think its cause of the weight. i had them on for a year with no problems...

also it seems like when i turn the wipers off that the drivers side wiper dont go back down all the way.. it sits in view of the windshield. i cant even pus it down to where it belongs..

what if any do i need to replace.? thanks
oh and where would it be located...?

If it was my car, I would pull the wiper arms off, run the wiper motor with the arms off, turn off the wiper motor, then put the arms back on and see if they park correctly. If they don't, you may need to replace the park switch and the contacts.

Sounds like the mechanical linkage might have worn out or fallen apart. Pull off the wipers and the cowl (or whatever needs to come off) and have a look at the linkage.

Cowl refers to the body area between the engine compartment and the windshield. It'* not a part of the wipers, more like where the wipers are.
If you pull off the grille under the wipers, you should be able to see most of the linkage.

First you have to get the wipers off... and i'm not sure if this was just my car, but I couldn't get the wiper arm to come off with the hood on. It took me removal of the hood to get mine off... so hopefully you don't, but there is that little tab and it slides one way and the wiper slides right off.
