Timing Chain Question
My timing is way off....and the car is running kinda rough. My mechanic said he can hear a pretty clear jingling noise, and told me my timing belt was stripping, and it should be replaced soon.
First question-How much is that job going to cost?
Second question- Is there a driveway cure for bad timing?

To replace the timing chain (and change the sprockets including the magnet on the left one and plastic sliders also) the timing cover must be removed (check the oil pump while there but are usually fine. Also replace the water pump while off).
Takes a while as the accessories and hoses (heater hoses are a pain) have to come off first. Timing cover will come out top after removing everything. Not difficult, just time consuming particularly if have not done it before.
For the novice is just best to follow the procedure in the factory service manual.
