Oil flush question
Hi guys, I would like to flush out the engine on the Bonneville, It doesnt see nearly as much highway use as it did, in fact it hasnt been outta town for almost a year. Compound the fact that I have neglected oil changes somewhat in the last year or so (HEY life gets in the way sometimes! LOL) I would like to use some B-12 or similiar to flush it out right before I drain it, then start using a really GOOD dino oil. I would use synth but its already got 185k on it. Engine doesnt seem to leak anything. Would I be opening a can of worms at this mileage with a flush, and should I just commit to every 2-3k with a good oil and not so orange filter in leu of a good flush?
Thanks so much! |
I would suggest just draining the system, and putting in fresh mobil 1 [reg, not super syn] then maybe 500mi drain it again and put in mobil 1 again and return to your regular oil change ever 3mo/3kmi.

PS - Don't forget the Trans Oil/Filter this year. |
Get a bit of high-rpm driving in, say, in the merging lane of the highway. Not necessarily a lot of it, and not necessarily to redline. It'll help.
