Minor Coolant Leak..drip..drip
Hey everyone
Got a small problem. This car of mine, well, it has never leaked until yesterday. I had a oil change last Saturday and the boys there told me that my coolant was a little acidic so I decided to splurge and do a complete coolant flush.
Now yesterday, there was a small area in the snow on the driveway that looked like coolant. Minor, but none the less....it was coolant. The spot seemed to eminate from (if was in front of the car looking at the engine) the bottom right hand side of the radiator. I noticed a wee puddle of coolant in one of the members of the chassis or whatever that runs across the car, I thought it might be overspill or something from the servicing on the weekend.
Once it dries a bit outside I intend to crawl underneath and have a look, but I need a short term easy breezy solution to this latest problem. I don't think I need to replace the rad, but any input is much appreciated.
Thanks

autozone sells a metal stop leak in comes in a yellow bottle ive used it on a couple of cars if its a slow leak it should seal it. (make sure your radiator is metal before using)

Thanks Junkman, you don't happen to have a product name do you? We don't have AutoZone in CAN...we gotz NAPA and CDN Tire, basically that is where I go for car gear.
A product name would help narrow it down
And ya, its metal...hot as hell too...hahah.zzzzttttt

Well.. in my personal opinion.. those stop leak crap that goes in Rads and coolant system May seem like it helps solve the problem.. but in the long run actually makes it worse and cost more. I"ve seen an know a few people that had minor leaks on or around the Rad, but when they put the coolant sealant in.. it fixes the problem but a month or 2 later.. they're heater core is plugged and ruined the whole coolant system. The coolant no longer circulates and try changing the heater core.. pfft... PITA Just my two fitty

I have used this on my Buick and drove it for 2 years after with no probs also on my brothers dyamantie hes been driving at least 5 months with no probs. And my bonne 2 months ago with many probs but none related to coolants probs no leaks and heater core is fine. I dont suggest using more than one can or any other brand.

If you decide to use the Alumni-Seal leave run your car with your thermostat removed for about 30 mins or until the leak stops. I just read somewhere that sometimes that stuff will seal your thermostat and cause your engine to start overheating but other than that everyone i talked to say it should work just fine. I asked about the heater core getting damaged from this and no one else has heard of this but anything is possible its your desision.

I'm going to have it looked at on Monday, haven't seen anymore coolant since that small spot in the snow. I'm hoping its not a big deal
Somehow I doubt it....I just hate leaks
