Default Is 200HP realistic?

I've been wondering....
Is 200HP a realistic target for my car. Stock its 165HP, and some ridiculously high torque amount (isn't that why we love these cars )?

Since I have put that new exhuast system in, I was told that it will give me and extra 10-15 HP. I have been seriously considering an ADTR intake so that will jump the HP value higher.

What else can done to get that value up to 200?...and is it possible?

Insert dreams of a Series II SC here...

Realistic, yes, but you'll be fooling with the heads and valvetrain to get there. I don't know how the trans will hold up. Maybe Jr can pipe in here.

Yes, we do have the torque. That'* what kills the rice.

Willwren, might be able to get 200HP without having to touch the heads and valvetrain. It might be possible. What I will do is next time I am at the junkyard I will rip apart a 3800 engine (your year of Bonneville) and see the design then I can better guess the modifications you need to achieve you goal of approx 200HP. Just remind me. I think I will go back on .... Tuesday or Thursday. I am going to pick up some more turbos and intercoolers as well. :P

Default I was wondering that myself...

I figure with the exhaust I'm going to do, and the intake mods I've already done I should be up 15-20 HP, or about 185HP. Other then a chip which I've heard is hardly noticeable, if at all for the early style Bonnies or going into the motor what else can I do to add another 20 or so HP? Hmmmm I guess I could just put on a small shot of N.O.*

You'd be better off with a turbo than NOS.

Don't forget a hotter ignition. MSD has a system that a couple guys are running. Porting your exhaust would help alot, too. Hector'* usually right on this stuff. Might be fun to see what he finds.

I was way the hell out of town when he pulled the heads (with my tools and book). Little bastard had them installed before I got back. I think he did get pics though, and I might even have them. This would be series 1. I'll see what I can dig up.

The 440T4 (4T60) trans probably would not hold up to this hp range. The 4T60-E WOULD how ever without much modifications.

In theory it should hold together just fine. As of yet I've not seen this combo in use yet though to properly verify what torque this combo would put out though.

Hello, sorry to butt in, but I wanted to know how difficult would it be to take the whole drivetrain out of a 96 Bonneville SSEi and put it in a 90 SE. The car it'* from is pretty much totaled and my friend wants only a couple hundred dollars for the whole drivetrain with the computer and wire harness.
