Still I can't believe there isn't a rev limiter on this engine. And btw The tire size i'm running is 215/65/15 which calculates out to 26 inches tall

I have an odd question.... You have a Bonneville with steering wheel controls electronic AC but you don't have the full gage cluster? Thes Bonneville can be strange as far as the options go...

I replaced all my speakers with Pioneers as well and even added the wiring for some dash speakers. So now I have 8 speakers. I have the power drivers seat as well. The only thing that had me confused when i bought the car it had 14 inch wheels on it. Totally not cool. So I got some crosslaced 15'* from my aunt and uncles Bonny cause they wanted 14'*. One more question. Is is possible to get a 87-91 Bonny with crank up windows. My brother has a 1987 Delta 88 and it has crank windows and manual locks. Strange combinations on these cars.

Wow i'm surprised to see what this thread has come to. I'm not thrilled to see it deviate so much from the custom intake discussion but never the less it'* worth it for the sake of seeing so many people remember the gravity and feel of this first gen of the Bonneville (and by first gen i mean first generation ... of the new generation not the 1957 one!). Anyways
Yes i love the low end torque on the beast. It never fails to push the passenegers into their seats when i first tap that accelerator. Hahaha it keeps my family awake!
What I wouldn't give for the time and money (and knowledge) to give it a total rebuild, straighten the body, fix that caster issue on the right drive wheel, prime and paint it, and give the engine a complete in and out toughness rebuild, My interrior is actualy in great shape!
Oh and about options, there is an 87 bonnie (red interrior, white exterrior whith manual rolll up windows!
Mine has in dash speakers (2) and 2 more in back. The leather (or whatever they used) for my dash is amazing! It has NO cracks or damage whatsoever. They really had a winner on their hands.. (proably why it was on Car and Driver'* top 10 for '87!) And one more thing, i have a magnet made to hold random nuts and bolts while you work on your car and i noticed it sticks to my dash. Strange that there must be metal deep within the flexible exterrior.

But yes there were many starnge options for the Bonneville... In 87 you either had a Bonneville, or Bonneville LE, If you had an SE that it was ordered something like bonneville LE with SE package... which gave you the SE trim plates... in 88 that changed..
Oh and in the dash, yes its all metal under there.. Thats what holds the shape of the dash...

I think i just have the "Bonneville" for 87. No LE badge on the pillar (b pillar i think it is?) and i assume the SE had an SE on it while mine has none. I think iremember looking up my vin # and it revealing me having an SE package but i doubt it.
AHH i miss m y car (its been 4 days since i left it at home for school and now i'm here at Virginia Tech withouti t.) Oh well it will make our reunion all the better in march.
Best to all of ya

If it was an HZ than it would be an LE and for whatever reason the 87 Bonneville could be had with an SE package... LOL...
The 88 model year went like this..
HX Bonneville LE
HZ Bonneville SE
HY Bonneville SSE
Um can you get a pic of your RPO code list on the spare tire cover and E-Mail it to me...
