Backdoor problem...
Hi! I'm new here and my first problem might be a stupid one. I've got a 87 Bonneville and since a few days I can't open both of my rear doors anymore. I've removed the inside panels of the doors but I can't see where the problem is. When the car is unlocked you hear the locks open and the inside mechanics seem to work perfectly, too. It can also say certainly that it'* not frozen. Can anybody helb me?

common problem on our cars, I have to spray my lock mech. with WD 40 before winter.
I think there is a Techinfo article on this so try searching there also.

This link has some info on how I fixed mine. Oddly, I'm still having problems with the one that I just lubed (driver'* side) and the claws on the passenger side don't want to let go of the striker too easily. I found a nice passenger'* side latch in a junkyard and am looking for a driver'* side too as I think replacement is the way to go for me.
I'd like to find a local company that can rivet the assembly back together after total dissassembly, cleaning, sandblasting, powder coating, etc. I called a dealer about 3 years ago and got a price of $118 for each latch but I'm not sure if they're still available.

I recently went through this problem myself. I have a white 1990 bonnie and spraying didnt work for me. I removed the panels and with a flat head screw driver pushed the lock down. Then I hosed it with lube. Seems to have taken care of it.
