Default The Tank Swap

So I did some work over the last two days on switching the tanks for the coolant and the washer fluid. It was not as easy as I origianlly thought that it would be, but then again, any MOD to these cars is a challenge. so here we are....

Before:

another angle:

Left side after removal of the old tanks and where the new coolant recovery will be.

The order seemed to get messed up...new at image posting!
The look from the front...too bad its winter here...engine compartmant is so dirty...:(

Default tank

just curious why you changed tank locations.
Did you want more room by the belts?

Why'* you change out the seats? Your'* would have had the cool moving headrests.

The tanks were moved for more room at the belts, not to mention the fact that the tanks were being held in place with 1 bolt. I wanted these to be secure, as they have been literally hanging on. I'm going to have some AC work done hopefully in the spring, and the bad location of one of the AC lined runs right below the coolant recovery tank. I've has this tank crack before. (hot coolant and a cold AC line, who would have thought that would break?)
Bill- seats were changed for two reasons
1 the originals had the smell of perma curry in them, and whatever I tried it never got the smell out. Then I found mould growing under the rear seat...so everything got gutted after that.
2 I've always liked the 92-99 seats, very comfortable. I miss the originals, but I like the look of these much better. And a set just happen to come my way, for a price that I couldn't refuse

They didn't quite just bolt in Bill...
well the fronts did, but the back was another storey. Had to make some brackets, creative drilling...i wish I had pics of the conversion....
Thanks John. I do miss the old seats tho- Bill pointed out a neat feature for this gen...the moving headrest. Sadly these ones do not have that feature, not the automatic recline feature, but the again, I don't miss people that when its their fisdt time in the car, and constantly moving in up and down..
The shifter is from a 2000 SSEi along with the leather boot. I never much cared for the cheap looking plastic that the general slaped in there before. I saw the initial concept in a 93 SE in a yard when I had the 89' and liked it ever since. Found the 2000 couple of years ago...and off it came.
I'll post some more of the interior once i have the chance to clean it.
