Default a couple questions :)

hi everyone!
first off, i'm new, my name'* lauren.
i have a 1990 bonneville LE, and she'* got 139k mileage

and i have a few questions:

1.) when i purchased it a year ago, i was told the AC didn't work. my father determined that it does in fact work, because we can hear the compressor go on, so we want to try recharging it with some refrigerant. does a 90 use r-12?

2.) two of the doors are stuck. they closed, and just never opened again. the power locks don't work (not even with the key), so i don't really think they're locked, but who knows. has anyone else encountered this problem or know a potential way to fix it?

thanks in advance! this site is great, i've frequented it for some time now, and only today i joined

if possible, we would do it

Hi Lauren, welcome to BonnevilleClub.

I had the same problems with the doors on my '89 Bonneville. It was the door handle itself on my car. The button that you push in to open the door has a pivot inside, and the pivit point was corroded up and siezed. I had to take my door panel apart ( NOT easy to do with the door closed ) and pull up on the rod inside. I then took the handle off and worked it back and forth with some good lube.

Where are you located? If a club member is nearby, he / she might be able to show you how to do it ( if that is you problem ). Also, you could possibly be able to get the doors open without taking the panel off.... if you can see the rod on the inside of the door that attaches to the handle. If you can see that, try to hook something on it and pull it up, then that should work for ya
