Default Ignition wires

I first noticed some sputtering upon acceleration about two weeks ago, which finally resulted in a breakdown on a busy street. About a year ago, I went through hell trying to fix this same problem (I replaced everything but the wires). Replacing the ignition wires solved the problem in both cases. On two of the wires at the plug end, there was carbon inside the sleeve, both wires on same coil. Replaced wires, car runs. Bad luck or bad coil? ICM is new.

I'd supect bad coil. Sounds like you're not getting good voltage. Try dielectric grease. And check your coil with TechInfo.
