heavy knocking noise at low rpm or idiol
:( my 1990 bonneville has this weird loud knocking noise at low rpm or idol.The sound it self will go away at anything over 1500 rpm.Am stummped on the prob so any suggestions are great.

Have a look that the crank pulley, Its actually a dampener... It in a way will absorb shock from say the compressor cycling on and off... The crank pulley will have a rubber section about 1.5 inches or so... Have a good look at it and make sure the rubber has cracked up... If the rubber is all broken up than you need a new crank pulley..

I have the same problem and it came down to the Harmonic Balancer. Get it fixed you should be fine 
Thats what I am doing. As if you let it go as I have the sound gets louder and louder
