'87 Bonneville with dead engine - reasonable price ?
My dad has an '87 Bonneville that is in excellent condition and he decided not to rebuild the engine after it quit awhile back. Its white, leather interior, and has a sunroof. Its always been well maintained. He lives in New England, and has always kept if garaged during the winter. I think he'd prefer to sell the whole thing instead of parting it out, but I don't know that for sure.
Does anyone have any ball park ideas what it might be worth ?
Thanks in advance. I haven't posted to the group for awhile, but some of you might recall I was remotely helping him troubleshoot the MAF shortly before the engine quit.

I think it may be dependant upon what went wrong with the engine. Others may disagree with me, but around here a dead car is as common as walmart shoppers. And here dead cars don't go for more than 300$, but the same car running goes for 1500$ and up. So if you really wanted to get rid of the car, selling it broken, may get you very little money. Parting it out will give you tons, and fixing it will give you a fair amount also.

You could drop in a newer motor and computer into it, and make a SLEEPER.
Series II or Series III supercharged? A used series II L67 could be had for about $500 if you shop around. Maybe even a totalled car with good engine, harness, pcm.

Is it in Florida or New England ? Being garaged in winter does not help unless it isn't driven either.
Have to agree, if it doesn't run it is not going to be worth much. Heck I'm having trouble selling my Fiero for $1250 and it runs fine. ( www.6007.us/fierofs.htm )

3.8L is the litre of the 3800 which is the vinC, while the 3.8L is the vin3, but not referring to it as the 3800, even though the CID/Litre is the same..
basically:
3.8L = vin3, also displacement for both vin 3 and C
3800 = vinC, but later years are differnt [92+]
