what vacuum line is this?
what does this line go to and do?
90 sse 3.8
i noticed i was hearing a sucking sound from underneith the hood and traced it to this line which is falling apart where the arrows are pointing, what is it?

im looking at the back of the motor from the drivers side fender

It'* the vac line that feeds the body of the car (HVAC)
Look to the right of your arrow in the picture and you see the little black "can" shaped item on the line? That'* the check valve that holds the vac on the HVAC servos in the dashboard when the motor is not producing vac.

You should be able to find an elbow like that at your local auto parts store. If not, then it'* less than $3 at your local Pontiac dealer.
While you are at it, check all your other rubber vacuum connectors and replace them to. Straight ones can be replaced with a short cut piece of inexpensive vacuum hose from your local parts store. Elbows and tees are better found at the dealer.
Small $$ for large peace of mind.
