Default another mystery or car possessed?

my trunk keeps popping open at random. well it doesnt actually fly open as it is much too heavy but it unlocks at random, all hours of the day and night when i am nowhere near the thing. why? sometimes the alarm will go off randomly in my driveway.

WHICH REMINDS ME..... does anyone know how to shut that thing off. can it be disconnected by me?

also, before i shut off my car i make sure to turn off the A/C Heater etc and when i get in it the next day the ac will be on and often the car wont start.
i cant figure out how in the world it does that.
i just chalk it up to.....MY CAR IS POSSESSED!

Almost certainly wiring shorting but can be a bear to find. Also sounds like a power drain in the a/c. Trunk lock and a/c wiring come together behind the glovebox, would probably look there first.

Next step would be to connect a ma meter on the battery with a/c on and start pulling fuses until the drain goes away, then troubleshoot that circuit.

Normal drain (ECM and Radio keep-alive) is around 20 ma though the book says 50 is OK. 500 ma will drain a battery overnight.

it seems that the previous owner has done some dicking around back there (behind glovebox). i see/ feel gooey blk electrical tape. also found a short in the glove box light, which is now fixed. one thing i wonder about though and that is.. it seems my car came with those obnoxious doorlocks. you know the onbes that lock when you put the car in gear. well, my car locks dont lock.
did he maybe find the wires for that and perhaps wreaked some other havock on the car?
i will try to hunt down the ac drain. which fuses would u suggest i start with?
thanks for your imput.

Does your A/C come on to 75 degrees, AUTO?

Check the connections at the battery. Make sure they are clean. Take them off and scrub them with a wire brush on all of the metal surfaces. Scrub in-between the two positive terminals. Also scrub the battery terminals. You need good metal-to-metal contact in there.

I don't believe the auto-locking doors feature was available until later model years.

i have checked and cleaned my cable ends often. the problem is that the little bumps in between the 2 positive ends have worn down and dont match up for a good connection. im having a heck of a time finding replacements without having to go thru gm and their million dollar parts.

i think my ground (?) wire may be loose at the starter... im going to take that off today and clean some of the corrosion off of it and see if that helps.

i also plan a few other voltmeter tests, so with any luck, ill find something.

I had the same problem with my 1991 SSE (the trunk/alarm) The fuse for the alarm is located behind the stereo. Its just a loose fuse block, sort of laying there. To get at it, remove the stereo, and feel around for the loose fuse block. Good luck
