What kinda coils do you have? One big one (Magnavox D552)

or 3 seperate ones(AC Delco D555)
.
If you have the AC Delco ones the MSD will mount right up if not you will have to find the AC Delco on it should plug right in. I switch my friends out from the magnavox to the AC delco and he said he could tell a performance difference in the two.

Here are the AC Delco Part and GM part numbers.

Magnavox:
Coil______D552_____12353801
Module___D1996____ 24503624

AC Delco:
Coil______D555_____10472401
Module___D1946A___10456478

These will mount right up then. Take out the six bolts (2 for each coil) and the new one will plug right on. Here are the specs I have.

MSD-8224 Coil packs

Specifications:
* Primary resistance: 35 ohms
* Secondary resistance: 7.8K ohms
* Maximum voltage: 40,000 V
* Inductance: 4.2 mH
* Turns ratio: 80:1

The main problem I had is that know body seems to have any info on the OEM coils so I couldn't find anything to compare them to.

Here are my two topics about the MSD Coils

I have sold my last set and I have a line on three more coils. The time line MSD gave was late July. Jegs and summit are totally out and are on back order and they had no clue when they were going to arrive.lol I had to connect a friend at MSD. In the end it’* a piece mean deal. Like I said until late July there are next to 0 vendors with gm coils. The rest is easy to get. Yes I also sell them my store is just under construction so you cant see it.

Ty,

Do you know if this will be an ongoing problem or is it going to be an everyday thing for these to be on back order.
