Default Hot Ride Inside.....

Why would heat from the engine start pouring into the car from the center console area underneath the dash? Didn't do it 2 years ago why now? Also, tranny still hangs in 1st too long, and slips from 2nd to 3rd please help, I want my car back. :(
Still love my car, James

My guess is the heat shield that goes around the Catalytic Converter is either damaged or missing. You might want to crawl underneath you car(when it'* cold) and look for any damage around floor board near the exhaust pipe.

He says that he just put in a new converter. Maybe they did not install the shield that is supposed to go above it? I can't believe they did not check for any other exhaust leaks.

I just reread it. It says that he WANTS to put in a new converter!

Right! Did you check the trans fluid when the car was HOT! If not, you might have overfilled it!!!

But doing the fluid change may actually may make the symptoms worse if the tranny is indeed on its way out...
Quick question, why would changing the tranny fluid make it worse?

Checked the tranny fluid hot, needed fluid, put in a quart, still needed fluid, put in another one, now it'* full, then checked oil level, BARELY ON THE STICK!!!!, put two quarts of oil in, immediately notice smoother idle and slightly cooler temperature, going later today to have converter put on for 40$ with a guarentee on the work, then getting new o2 sensor cause engine diagnostic said to. Btw,..... i have two diagnostic keys (in car at purchase) and i forgot how to begin diagnostic.

1 insert key when car is off
2 turn ignition to position just before start
3 turn ignition back to off
4 repeat 2,3 3 times
5 on third time watch for code from blinking service engine light
Correct? or not?
Also have not checked heat shield yet, too busy, and i also got a new fuel filter with car (in trunk) and i may put it on myself, with the forums help of course!

P.*.: by later meaning it'* after 12:00am here in georgia (3:02am to be exact) I have no life :(
