"Service Engine Soon" can be fixed by the "Techinfo" link at the top of the page. 87-93 ECM code article.

Let us know what codes you get.

Yep. They are the two uppermost right hand terminals.

Pull Fuse Cover. Under there you'll find a weird looking connector thing. A and B I thought was top left? Or is mine upside down? Eh, not sure. The terminal is labelled, so all you have to do is squint and read it. You won't damage anything shorting the wrong ones. I've done it a few times.

Gearhead Padgett has this fix.

http://www.6007.us/

Go to Automotive Tech Notes, then to Simple Cam Magnet Replacment on 3800

Worked for me!

I was going to guess it was the cam sensor, I had a similar thing happen to me. I passed a car, maybe hitting 4,000RPM and the damn light came on. Of course Renée was sitting next to me and had to comment on it, you see I rarely drive the car cause she thinks it is her first born, lol. SO she always complains that I am hard on the car, etc.... I ended up bringing it to the garage to get fixed. I had the cam sensor changed along with the spring and button that holds the cam in place.

It is also a good time to have them check the timing chain and the gears, they are right there after all, hehe.
