MAF Sensor
I just got through cleaning my throttle body on my car today. Got everything hooked up and now the car won't start. I ran the trouble codes and came up with a 22 and a 34. I unplugged the MAF sensor and the car will start just fine. WIth it plugged in it will just start and die unless I hold down the gas pedal. I think I messed up this time. Any suggestions before I go shell out some major money for the sensor?

I unhooked the battery and waited about a half an hr. Still have the code 34. So looks like i'll be walking until payday.

Just got through changing out the MAF sensor that I FUBAR. The only codes I am showing now are a code 12. The car idles better but for some reason the cooling fan won't shut off. I unhooked the battery and reset the computer and was wondering why the cooling fan won't shut off. Any help would be appreciated. I'm so ready to have my Bonneville Back.

Stupid Stupid Me, I figured out why the fan was running. I forgot that when you unhook the battery and reset the computer it sets the ac on automatically which in turn sets the fan on. I'm so relieved to have my Bonneville back even though I got to drive a Grand AM for the week. But nothing and I mean nothing beats a Bonneville.

Ok code 24 is for the TPS sensor... Throttle Position Sensor voltage low..
code 34 Mass Air Flow sensor, low grams per second indicated...
Go ahead and disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for about a minute to erase the codes... Reconnect the battery... Make sure all of the sensors are plugged in... Start the car and see if you can get it to idle... If the codes reappear you might need a new MAF sensor.... The TPS could be mis adjusted or faulty also... Do unplug the battery to reset the computer, and see if the codes return... Also make sure all of the vacume lines are attached to the vacume ports on the throttle body... Let us know what happens...

I got my TB cleaned as well as fuel system condtioned when I went for my last oil change, go to the nearest lube shop and ask if they have the product to clean TB and MAF screens...maybe they don't have it for sale, but at least you will know what the product is called

actually the MAF I installed came from a junked out 90 Bonneville with 230,000 miles. It was only 50 bucks which is more in my price range right now. So far the car seems to run better and idles smoother. Probably because I decided to reinstall my MAF screen. I'm so glad to have her back and running.

Keep meaning to send them off to get ultrasonicly cleaned but have not yet.
