Default DIC Reports "Low Coolant"

Ok, so I went out the other day, started the car and the DIC reported, "Low Coolant".

I paniced at first, because I just had my rad replaced last week. I got out... looked at the ground, and didn't see a drop of fluid.

So I get back in the car, start her up again, and the DIC reported all systems ok

So, it'* two days later or so, I go out and the DIC is again misreporting "Low Coolant"
I checked the ground again, no leaks, and I checked the res, it'* at proper levels.
So I'm thinking the problem is with the monitor.

But I don't know where that'* located...? I figured it would be a device similar to the windshield washer fluid monitor, but I don't see anything like that attached to the coolant reseviour.

actually it has nothing to do with it being hot(i think) if the engine gets hot the''check guages'' light will come on. i think it'* a faulty sensor. the same thing is happening to me! full reservoir , normal temperature, and the low coolant light comes on and off??? just wait till the experienced ones jump in, i'm sure they could help.
WILLWREN where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu???

on the 88-91 SSE'*, they do not have the Check Gages on the DIC. we only have: LOW COOLANT, LOW WASHER FLUID, AND LOW FUEL.

The coolant level is fine, no leaks, and the temp gauge is reading correctly.

It'* got to be the fluid level sensor. It'* probably similar to the "bobber" that is in the windshield washer container. But I can't find where it'* located for the coolant?

Scooby Doo..... where are you???

er

wilwren / jr's3800 / drjay where are you??? hehe
(Not a major problem, just annoying... I like to have my DIC w/o errors)

I think that sensor is actually on the radiator. Look on the back, on both sides for some wiring sticking out of the radiator. If you just had it replaced, the sensor in the new (or is it used?) radiator may be bad.

*bursts through the door* tadaaaa! haha damn I'm an idiot but anyway...Ya know I've looked into this and I can safely say that uh..I don't know haha. I probably do and don't realize it but I haven't had much sleep today so my brain isn't working right. Plus I've spent all day looking up porsche parts for a buddy and now I'm swapping the parts in my mind. SO I'm still looking into this and I'll get back to you when I find out whats what with it. I do believe fuddyduddy is right in that its located inside your radiator but I'll do research nonetheless.

i dont know if your sensor is the same spot as mine or not, if it is its on the passenger side about half way down the rad.

I took a look around, and there are several connections leading into the rad... I can't determine for sure which one exactly is the fluid monitor.

But, the DIC is not reporting low coolant. It hasn't said "Low Coolant" in two days now. I guess the gremlin has moved onto something else. :?

Anyone else notice that their Bonnie (sometimes) fixes it'* self?
But most times requires vast amounts of CA$H to repair

She'* expensive.... but she'* so worth it.

Ok... the gremlin is back....

While I was out snapping photos of my 2 rad fans for JR, I also snapped some straight down shots of my rad.

If anyone can point out where the coolant sensor is located using these pics it would be really helpful.
