Default crank sensor

I recently put in a new crank sensor and now the car runs rough. Does this have anything to do with it . to my knowledge, the sensor allows it to either run, or not run.

1987 bonny 4.3

thanks for your help

Wow dawg.. I want your engine.

The correct engine is 3.8L..

Do you have an SES light? If so, what are the codes? If not.. how many miles have you driven, to allow the ECU to 're-learn'? And what kind of 'rough' do you mean? Like the engine is stumbling, mis-firing, surging, etc.. just a little more description on what kind of rough we are trying to fix here.

Yep, sounds like you got some of them messed up. Your coil packs sit on the rear of the intake plenum, correct? And there are three individual units? If this is true, then you don't have to worry about connecting the coils to the ICM wrong [only a Magnavox Ignition Issue]. But, you probably incorrectly hooked up the plug wires from the Coils to the Individual Cylinder. Honestly.. since I don't have an '87.. I can't help with fixing that. However there are several members here who do have '87s that I am sure could help you out on that.

Ok, everything is kosher with the wires, and new plugs. it still runs like theres a cylinder missing. Does the crank sensor have anything to do with this problem, or does it just either make it start, or not start?

The crank sensor is a run or no run situation, i believe the cam sensor is the culprit for your miss. Or a valve went out on u and u need a rebuilt. Never know.
