To Buy or not To Buy?

I currently own a 1990 bonneville sse and have enjoyed the vehicle ever since I first drove it. With age comes many problems, tail lights broken, fog lights removed since they didnt work, door problems in cooler weather, cracked leather interior, and sometimes the trunk opens on its own, not to mention the 160,000 miles. With its age also comes recent repairs: 2 new tires, brakes, CJ joints, ect. I am not a mechanic and if the repairs keep growing I will not be able to afford them. The car still does its main purpose: get me from home to work.

The problem comes when you find a 1997 bonneville 40th anniversary SE for sale in pretty good condition. The car has 118000 miles and is very clean. It also has a salvage title. It has been repaired. It was hit in the front, airbags did not deploy. Hood, bumper, fenders, radiator, and condensor have all been replaced. Been told it would cost me my car + 2500. Would need to take out a loan and check on insurance before this. I am wondering in this situation what others would do?

Buy it!!! Although it is 118,000 Miles still seems like a good deal.

Depends on where you are. In some states you cannot sell or register a vehicle with a salvage title (check with your DMV).

Any records as to the repair of the damage that occurred? That can also help determine whether you're paying too much or not. Just the hood, bumper, fenders and condensor seems too little for a salvage title. There must have been serious damage, or frame damage.

I do not have the repair bill in hand or any other information on it. I am just having problems deciding on it because of the salvaged title. I've been told that it isn't worth it by many people, because I will not be able to trade it in or get much for it if i decide to sell it. I do not know if i can get a loan for it from the bank either. But i do know insurance is less than what i am paying on the 1990.

Also an update on my car, it is running Very Loud, gotta love exhaust problems. Maybe thats the 1990 SSE's way of telling me to go with the 97!

Thanks for your help in my decision making process!
I made a decision, I am selling the 1990 bonneville SSE !
I AM NOT buying the salvaged 97 SE!

I instead wish to be Welcomed by my fellow owners of the SSEi SUPERCHARGED Bonnevilles!!!!!!!!!!!
