Brakes and ABS warning lights when stuck into traffic

I own a 88 SSE with 204k kilometer.
Great machine to play with, however the following glitch I have
is not giving me much confidence in the braking system.

When I am into traffic bumpers to bumpers for about 30 minutes
and up...the warning lights "brakes & Antilock" suddently lights up...
when I recover normal highway speed then the lights go off.
Kind of scary!!!
My brakes have been renewed and I wonder if there is a cure
for this annoying signals showing off my brakes system weaknesses and help me recovering my trust in this car.

Is there anybody that have lived this before and could bring
a solution for this?

Maybe brakes overheating out of the wheel speed sensor range of operation? Not likely, but maybe...

Is there any change in the pedal feel when the lights go on?

are you positive when the new brakes were put on that all the air was bled out of the lines?

If the brakes overheat on my car, then the antilocks will shut off.

No change on the pedal...except that few years ago the
ABS shut off and the brakes system went into a madness in the middle of the city and it was very scary to brake with unassisted
brakes for a while...shut off the engine and waited 15 minutes and the braking system re-armed ..but what a pitty experience....
What GM taught when they ingeneered this?

No change on the pedal but I guess that if I still have to used in the traffic for too long that the brakes system failure will occur again.
Quite dubius that a car of this quality could have this type
of problem.
I wonder if GM had a Special Bulletin on this?

big_boss2010 Apr 25, 2004 11:52 PM

ok just figured it could have been done improperly.

How do you appreciate that kind of brakes failure?
