Default Clattering noise from rear/transaxle area

My 88 Royale did it and never seemed to hurt anything in 100k miles or so that it did it...now the Bonney is just starting to do this too. when you throttle up and let it idle back down...you can hear a strange "marbles in the hubcaps" sound from the torque converter area. Can hear it in Park and in traffic sometimes. Oil pressure good, oil clean, no adverse running conditions but I would like to know what they heck??

mine has made some kind of noise. Check out this post and let me know if this is similar to what you have. If that'* your problem then I wouldn't worry about it much. My car has over 220K miles on the tranny and seems to not even bother it.

Ya know...that could be it..sure does sound like a chain rattling. The Royale had gotten QUITE loud but never a burp outta the transmission. It started at about 170k or so. was REALLY loud and doing it at standing idle when I traded in. The Bonney at 183k is just starting. Guess I will find another transaxle soon. Maybe a book too..I have NEVER been inside one except to change the filter and I should learn about them

I'd just drive it till it breaks. These trannys are pretty tough if cared for properly. I don't think it'* much to worry about. Something more serious is likely to break before the chain itself does.
