SSE Seat Question
Hi all,
My daughter'* '91 has the many way power adjustable seats. Both seats controls work on the base only (up, down, back & forth w/ tilt). The recliners, headrest and lumbar do not work at all. Seats are stuck in recline. She likes it, I do not. Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris

When I got my 90 I also had some recline problems. The seats would go back but would not come forward. I heard a relay click but there was no movement. I encouraged the motor by tapping on it with a ratchet extension (anything hard will do) while pressing on the button. So far, they haven't failed again. The recline motor is the rearmost motor under the seats.
The lumbar control unit and air pump are separate fron the seat control module. They live under the passenger'* seat. They get their power from circuit breaker 23 but if that was faulty, I'd expect you to have trouble with the power windows and sunroof as they are on the same circuit. Take a peek under the passenger'* seat and check for disconnected wires. We can go much deeper if everything looks connected correctly. Got a volt meter or test light?

hmmm....I agree with Randman sounds like the circuit is ok. I replaced all the motors and lumbar support when i did the interior swap, but before I did the the reline was not working that well on the dirvers side. When I looked at the motor the casing was cracked. the unit (not sure what its called) that controls the airlines if it does develop a crack will be no good- do you hear a leaking sound at all? or is it completly dead?

I just had a spilled drink issue with mine and only lumbar and headrest worked. With the help of guys on here , pried out seat adjuster box from console unplugged the 3 electrical connections ,took apart the box and cleaned inside with alcohol and qtip sprayed with electrical cleaner let dry (dont remember the name) put dielectric grease on connectors. When I hooked it up it didnt work right away but later that night, voila! seats worked.
