Strange Window Issue
The driver'* side front window has began to roll down on it'* own. It powers the entire way down, and needs a few minutes before the switch will work again. Not hearing any unusual noises, and all three of the other windows seem fine (front passenger window is slow...). Any idea as to what the problem is? How hard is it to remove the door panel on a "91 88?
Thanks,
Mark

Get the plastic clips to put it back in before you start, you won't ever get the old ones to hold the same way. I hate dealing with electrical issues so I say replace the whole shebang with new stuff. You shouldbe able to get a good control panel from ebay or a junkyard. Getting the door panel off is a little aggravating because there always seems to be one more screw or clip hidden under something. After that comes the fun part of unbolting or unrivoting the motor when you can't see where the screws are, installation is the reverse of removal. It took me a whole day to do my 2 front doors. I was so tired and POed I paid my all knowing mech to do the back 2. (If you knew how much of a cheapskate I am you would know how hard that was.) If you have patience and the right tools and stuff to begin with then DIY. If not pay someone.

Not sure if I understand whats happening. If you press the down button it goes all the way down? Or it just goes down on its own without touching the switch?
Please clarify.

If its going down on its own under power there must be something shorted in the switch. When it hits bottom the circuit breaker now opens and stops everything from working. Also it could be a fault in the express down module located below the motor. Its a little black box.

It worked fine going to work last night. Rolled the window up and down a few times, and other than it being slow as always, it stopped when I wanted it to, and rolled back up when I hit the switch. It had rain for about 36 hours straight prior to me getting into the car Monday when this weirdness happened, so you're probably on the right track with it being a short. Once I get the interrupter magnet in, I guess I'll rip the door apart. I miss my Bonneville already...

The express down module is bad on mine. The GM PN is 16627302 for the most recently updated version. PNs 16626271 and 16603645 (the bad one) will work as well.
