89 LE - Oil Gauge!!!
Hah, well when I first got the car, it has some kinda serious oil gauge problem...i mean this thing was completely whacked, it would go from not working at all to pegged and then be normal and then not again...and then for no reason whatsoever worked...from around January 10th 2005 till just about today...so ALMOST 2 years and now its back to going completely nuts again.
How hard is it to change a oil pressure sender anyways? The only time I ever changed one was on an '85 Nissan Pickup and that was even kinda difficult!
And heres a vid cof course just to demonstrate what its doing, and demonstrate how well I can almost get in to an accident on the expressway while trying to take a vid haha, just a little advice needed...thanks!!!

Classic bad oil sender problem. GM had a TSB (Buick service bulletin 90-6D-5) on it and our 90 had less than 1000 miles on it when it went for the first time.
What you need is a p/n 3532954. The original was taller and had a silver body. The new one is shorter and has a black plastic body that is easy to snap off if stressed wrong.
I have changed the sender before by wreaching through the passenger wheel well with a small pair of channel-locks. You pop the connector off the top and just unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. The senter is on top of the housing that mounts the oil filter.

Check your ground first man... it'* probably not this, because usually if it'd cause the guage to do that, the ECU would go out [killing motor]. But it'* good to check anyway, it'* the ground attached to one of the three studs holding the ICM bracket on... if you don't know where it is, follow the negative battery cable [the biggest gauge one] and you'll find what you are looking for. Remove the one nut holding the cables on and clean everything up nice and pretty.

As for sender...
Ok, it is right above the port for the oil filter? ok. I will have a look see. You say you had to remove the passenger tire and wheel well protection to get to it? Sounds fun.
I'm not super concerned, because I check my oil all the time and I always change it at the interval, but there is always the off chance that something could start leaking...so eh. If i can find a warm place to work then I will do it.
Thanks for the part number, I will probably go get the sensor/sender soon.
And andrew..lol, Thats just me! commentating on everything imaginable! Even if i did sound dumb

Sender has two different circuits innit - warning light which is interlocked with the fuel pump (won't go very far if that is your problem) and the gauge circuit. Usually it is the gauge circuit that goes wonkey.
I have R&Red a sender on our 90 without removing anything and just getting it high enough to reach past the oil filter with a small pair of channel-locks. Do think I turned the wheel all the way to the stop.
