Default Digital Climate control conversion?

Will the digital climate control from an SSE fit in an LE? Is the display color still red on that unit like it is on the standard climate control?

Strangler.. this is one of those 'mods' that.. only people who aren't fully informed about the work they have ahead of them. You need an FSM [Factory Service Manual], that is the first step. Then, look at all the schematics, and the difference between Manual Controls, and Electronic Climate Control. Is it possible, yes, everything is possible with the right about of time and money. Since I do not know you personally, I cannot tell you how capable you are, however if I had manual controls, I wouldn't even think of attempting this. And I have ripped my dash apart.. basically for fun.

I have the ability to do something like that, but for a mod like this, it would only be worth it if it were more of a plug in. I am not that anxious to have digital controls. Thanks for the response.

92-99 /= 87-91......

It'* like two sensors.... If you can read a schematic, operatea soldering gun, turn a screwdriver... You can do it. But you'll need to buy your own FSM.

Let'* see... interior temp sensor, exterior temp sensor, HVAC programmer, connectors and harnesses for each, and I/m sure there is more. Also, when I tried to use the air mix door actuator from the parts car which had a manual climate control and use it in the 93 which had ECC, the actuator operation was backwards. This too might have to be changed.

I'm curious to see how much the first person to accomplish this conversion would enjoy not being able to put heat out of the dash vents like they could with the manual controls. Especially after all of that work.

I don't get heat out of my vents right now anyways, and I think my heater core is on the way out (nice sweet smell every so often). That'* why I was considering the conversion, but now I think I should keep it as simple as possible. Thanks.

Huh? Why can't you turn on the heat?

That pertains to getting full hot or warm air from the dash vents. As the interior temp is below the selected temp on the ECC display, the air is directed to the floor vents and the air mix door is fully closed. As it approaches the set temp, the air is split between floor and defrost with the air mix door opening some. Getting even closer to the set temp, it finally directs the air to the dash vents but the air mix door is opened a little more. Therefore, there is no way to get full hot or warm air from the dash vents. It'* lukewarm at that point. With the manual controls, you can have full blast hot to the vents or even bi-level whenever you want.

From what I understand though, 96 (?) and up ECC'* have a mode selection for the different vents. Neither my 90 nor the 93 have this ablity.
