Better gear ratio'*
My 92 regal is pretty good on power, My 1990 Eighty Eight on the other hand is a little limp wristed . I'd like to replace my 88 tranny with a 3.06 ratio. Both Car are in the same mech cond but Regal lokks horrible. The regal is ser 1 motor. Swapping tranny'* may be a chore , am i right. Should I get another tranny ? Are my 92 heads interchangeable to the 90. I was thinking of re-doing heads then swapping them on to the 90 to keep the 90 running. Don't want to go crazy.

Looked up specs on both engs. Regal 170hp 225 ft/lbs 9.0:1
88 165hp 220 ft/lbs 8.55:1
Regal has 109k runs like new, 88 has 96k runs new. Still looking for gear ratio on Regal since the tire cover is no help.

Stupid people never look there first. They ask ques first then go look. So, now I'll go look ! Thanks for the reply and you know I'm referring to me right. It'* better when folks laugh with you rather than at you.

Darn....
Here'* the rub. If you had the window sticker or a printout of the options. You could tell easily.
You say the tire cover isn't any help. I assumed you didn't have it or it was destroyed where the sticker is located. Yet..on the 97+ Regals, the sticker is on the truck lid. No sticker, right?
Vin wise .. dealers can sometimes do a lookup. Yet they are limited to 10 years. However...and this might be the saving part. My local dealer looked up the last 6-8 of my over 10 year old vin and in looking for the parts associated to it, the RPO listing was available. He was able to print it out. Yet w/o looking up a specific part...it wouldn't show the info on the car.

There is an online vin decoder i have used for my Jeep. Don't know if I saved it after the crash of 2008. I'll try and find it again. The Regal had a broken pwr ant when i got it and the tire cover is/was pressed cardboard type. My Royale is the hard plastic type and perfect. I stuck an old ant in place of the old ant. No leaks now and good reception.

Tried the decoder. They go as far as telling you MSRP and top speed. Any other info and you have to pay Car Fax. What i did find is that the 92 Regal can be 4t60 or 4t60 E. Dont know which , they came with either.
