Bonneville SSE to a LE or 3.8L engine from a Buick
Heres the question, I got a real good deal on a bonneville SSE 90 or 91 ..
Just wondering I got a 3.8L Buick T-type engine sitting here.. would the tranny fit in the SSE 3.8 engine? casue the SSE has some tranny problems, so im thinking a full swap would be nice. or can I swap anything from the SSE to the LE or vise-versa.

First, make sure the final drive ratios are the same.
Second, are they the same year, what is the Buick?
Third, what LE? Another Bonny?
There are a lot of swappable components between all the H-body cars. But not everything is, which I'm sure is why you asked. So, honestly, I don't know off hand, but we can figure it out with RPO codes and help from someone more familiar with 87-91 Bonnys.

Since you mention a 3.8 I assume you mean 1987 or earlier. In that case the engine is considerably different since it lacks the counter shaft and roller lifters introduced in 88 for the "C" 3800.
It also uses a different ignition system and crank sensor/balancer and all of the electronics are designed for a C3 computer instead of the P4 used 88 and later.
I do not even know if you could bolt the "C" manifold/intake/injectors/egr to the earlier heads or if the motor mounts/transmission mounts are the same but are questions you need to answer before starting.
Given the number of "C" 3800s available, I think that would really be a better place to begin.

I second all the above and the what to look for as far as tranny plug.
The 88-89 T-type used the LN3-C. Just look at the engines. If the manifold looks the same its OK but Id still check all the sensor plugs on the engine and see if they are the same. Something changed on the 91 C engine but I didnt compare all part numbers to see what it was.
All Lesabre T-types used the 2.97 final drives.

The cars in the question are 88 Buick T-type, 89 Bonny LE, 90 Bonny SSE
The buick T-type engine looks just like mine, but the tranny is different I belive, cause of that gear ratio, they were totally different from all the other models because of the t-type package.
