1988 sse intake manifold

hi,

Anyone know of a issue with oil seepage on top of the engine. Could it be simply be a intake gasket or intake manifold? If I were to replace the intake manifold with a more performance based brand, what brand should I go with?

Oil seepage on top of the engine is probably from the valve cover/gaskets.

Dido on the Valve cover gaskets if it's oil. How many miles on it? I have a 1988 SSE also and I had to do the lower intake as it was burning coolant. This was at 170k. Also the lifters were sludged up and not pumping back up. Lots of rocker arm noise. I took each lifter apart and cleaned them, put em back together and reinstalled. Good as new. This was over a year ago. I went with Felpro gaskets which I believe to be the same as OEM. Couldn't tell the difference.

Click on the thumbnail pic to see how bad the gasket was. Collapsed and disintegrating. LOL! I'm surprised it was still running.

Here's another picture with it all cleaned up and new gasket in place. Also a picture of a cleaned up lifter.
