Default Red Bonnechetta

Hi Folks,
Been a while, eh?

For those of you familiar with the Rush song, Red Barachetta you might enjoy this.

...Down in his barn, my friend stored for me an old machine, for several odd years. To keep it as new has been his dearest dream.

I strip away the old debris, that hides a shining car...

A brilliant red Bonnechetta from a better vanished time...

Fired up the willing engine responding with a roar. Tires spitting gravel I commit my weekly crime...

So what we have here is a '93SSEi, same as my beloved green one I sadly sold nearly two years ago. Truth be told this was the car I was going to buy when I was originally looking for one. The owner has finally decided to part with it. It has literally been sitting for ages, only driven every other week or so up and down the road. It has been sitting under a cover in his garage or in his yard. How much did I pay? $0.00. He has lost interest in it and is familiar with how I babied my green one so my friend gave it to me to look after. It needs a good tune up, alternator change, fix the headliner, reconnect the sunroof drain tubes and a good clean up. Pretty cool! Once I tune it all up he will decide whether or not if he wants it back. If he does he will pay me for my time and off it goes. If he does not want it he may have me sell it and split the proceeds with him, otherwise he will give it to me. I figured with either three option I could not lose!

It has some crazy performance muffler on it because it has a very cool, low exhaust rumble. It sounds pretty awesome. I have to get it to the point where it passes an emissions test before its fate is discovered. Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Adam

That thing is looking REAL good for almost 20 years old. If you do get to keep it, you better take real good care of her!

Sort of looks like that. The car is drying in the picture from me using my Auto Dry.
The finish on this car is quite nice save for the few spots where the tarp rubbed on the roof when he tried to prevent water entering the sunroof area. I'm pretty sure with some rubbing compound and polish it will come right up.

Thanks for the compliments. Nice looking car indeed. I have started doing some light work on it over the past few days. I found a mouse nest as big as Texas in the HVAC port where the fan connects to the firewall. The HVAC squirrel cage must be replaced.

Found some vacuum lines unplugged or rotten and repaired them. Idles nice and smooth now. Alternator replacement is next, only getting 11.4 volts = NFG!

It has 189,000km which equals about 117,400 miles.

I drove it up and down my road the other day for fun. It drives like a car that has been sitting for a long time, very stiff and musty smelling, LOL. I'll get it loosened up fairly soon!
