Apologies for the funny angles but LeSabre hoods open up backwards compared to Bonnevilles :P
My '88 T Type... Stock, minus painted cover and Delco coils, as I've only had it a couple months.
Engine out of the '89 T Type (originally out of my '90 Olds 8

Bahaha at the "Boost gets you laid."
I'm .. yeah, and I don't have boost.. :scratches head: What'* the problem?
I usually dont wrap anything when I clean my engines.
I just don't spray high pressure, I use more of a running stream out the end of the hose ( no nozzle.. ) use simple green car wash soap, and a car wash sponge, pour soap on top of engine after it'* cooled down a bit, but still a little bit warm, wet down, scrub with wash pad..
mine never looks bad either.
everyone'* got different styles or procedures, i guess.

The foil pic above confuses me.
I've never had a water-related failure on either car due to cleaning. And I just go at it. Including scrubbing my coils.
The temperature strips in my pic above are on the 95 now. They were originally on the 93 when that top end was on the other green car. I used those strips to determine what heats up first, and how hot. Having done their job, they are no longer needed. That whole top end will be replaced soon again.
