Default Trying something different.....

Today I went from a Cold Air Intake to a Fenderwell Intake. What do you think? All parts from the local hardware store (except for the K&N filter):

Also decided to remove the MAF screen at the same time.

I see that failing when the engine shifts (and it will)....solid front motor mount I hope. Still dont like the design.

I'd strongly advise at least to get the intense tubing, much more reliable. I'm not saying you have to get it from intense...most hydralic stores sell tubing that is close to what intense has. You want something that is reinforced.

I can imagine what would happen if that dryer tubing failed on a gravel road or something. laminar air flow..I dont see it happening with that setup you have.

avoid dryer tubing, avoid pvc. period. My opinion

It'* an experiment with FWI. If I like the performance, then I'll get the intense like tubing, otherwise I may go back to my original CAI design. I'll see how the stuff holds up. Dick you use the Intense pipe don't you?

I'm thinking about ditching the idea of boxing my filter in and just going strait to the Fender Well, because it would take more work to make room to make the box, and the FWI tends to work better don't it?

I was in ACE yesterday and almost picked up the same stuff, but i was gona use it to grab air from under the car and bring it to the filter.

That looks cool though

Pretty inventive stuff, Brian.
Does it collapse under the suction? That'* what I would be afraid of.

Throw your socks and dirty pants in. I'll bet it'll dry 'em right up for you!

If it'* a temporary experiment, I say go for it. It'* a good indication of if you'll invest in the proper tubing.

Cheers,
Adam

I see turbulent flow, inaccurate MAF readings, and massive heatsoak resulting in KR.

But that'* just me.

....so will going with Intense tubing solve any of that Bill? I wanna get it right if I keep this setup.
