KR is Knock Retard. If the air coming in is to hot the Air fuel can preignite. This causes detonation in the cylinder when it shouldn't happen. And can cause a lot of damage. The PCM can sense this and it will pull timing to help protect the engine.

So if I am reading correctly,,,, I can drop to a 3.5 with NO other mods and be safe?

I just bought a 03 SSEI with only 60k on it as my daily driver,,,,, I am in sales and will put 30 K a year on this car and cannot sacrifice reliability,,,, car still needs to make 200K +.

Thanks !!!!!!

Also,,,, how does the 3.5 effect MPG?
