Good Work Jason.
What are you going to do with the 6' Wilson whip? Are u going to leave it as a mag mount?
You will definitely receive/transmit better now....
I just don't want to see you trying to remove it in the next electrical storm though..

yeah i think im gonna keep it mag mount. i wanted to go fender mount, but looking at all the mounts at the cb/chrome shop (that place was like heaven by the way) all the metal is too thick for the panel gaps on my car. and i could fab my own from thinner metal, but they probably made em that thick for a reason!

the wilson is planted ungodly well compared to the old shorter whip. you can literally bend the antenna till it hits the ground and the mount dont move at all. the old one would fall down with a 4" flag on it doing 60mph.

overall im pretty happy with how it turned out. i was talking to the truckers on the freeway about 5 miles from my house. longest call i heard was a driver talking at a truck stop about 12 miles out. seems this whip only gets me transmitting about 5 miles. (its wierd hearing all them guys talkin at once now! actually had to turn down the rf gain quite a bit to only hear about 5 guys.)

time to do some cookin on the radio! lol.

Is that a Turner Super sidekick power mic? I use to have one back in my days.

Hmm, remember, HAM'* tend to get weirded out when cber'* talk about modding "illegally" radios. All we think about is TVI and bleed over to our cherished 10 meter band.

Yes Mike it is a top of the line Turner + 3 B with gain, lock, 9volt battery power mic.
I also have a silver eagle lollipop D104 but the Turner is way better for clarity and wont push the finals over!

My base radio wasn't just modded it was done professionally, that is the secret.
Powerfull clear finals, tuned frequencies on oscilloscope and reworked SSB clarifier and set up with the Turner +3B !!
The splatter comes form anyone close to my antenna..LOL..Thats why it got used after 11pm...and taking to England..LOL..
