Default My 2005 SLE!!

Hey guys,

I have been a member of the forum for quite awhile, and just picked up a 2005 Bonneville SLE yesterday with 75000 miles. After falling in love with the looks of this car and wanting to own one for the past year, and now owning and driving one daily, these cars are EVERYTHING there hyped up to be! I'm very happy with my purchase and hope to have many years and memories with this car.

I have been kinda getting a list of mods together. After searching around the forum on the "best" mods, I have gotten kinda confused, so was wondering if you Experts could give me a couple direct mods which are helpful.

Since im kinda going after increasing gas mileage (which is already good) i have been leaning toward:

Engine:
1. Cold Air Intake (which is the best bang for the buck?)
2. Coolant Flush (whats your guys' opinion on Dexcool?)
3. Exhaust (if it really increases gas mileage much)

Appearance:
1. tinted windows all the way around (if some could post pics of there tints, i would appreciate it!)
2. GXP rims (anyone have any for sale?)
3. Possibly tinting tail lights, but seems like quite the chore..

As far as any other fuel saving mods you have done, im open to offers and suggestions.

Thanks for your time!

Looks great. Good luck on the GXP rims, several other people want them too. Tinting the tails could be done by YoungGuns, one of our other members.

Super clean car. Very nice.
As for the CAI, make your own, 2 feet of hose and a K&N filter and your set.
No problems with DEXcool, you can flush if you want but it takes a lot to flush it out.
Exhaust is up to you, quite like stock, louder like magnaflow, your choice. No performance gain with a muffler.

Welcome to the site, and congrats on the new car. Looks great!

Your best bet for a Cold Air Intake would be a FWI (Fender Well Intake) as it pulls cold air from inside the fender. You can buy hose from Intense racing and a filter and make your own, or you can buy kits that are out there as well. If Interested, I make and sell FWI that are custom painted to match your car (or any color you want)...PM me with any questions or for details.

Window tint will really make the car look great..I say do it!

GXP wheels would look awesome on your car, however I wish you the best of luck in finding them, as lots of people want them and there are not many around.

Tinting the tails would look great too..you luckily have the nicer style tail lights (GXP tails as we call them) so count yourself lucky right there, but if you do want them tinted, like mentioned above I do those as well..send me a PM for more info!

Exhaust- mufflers won't do anything for performance or gas mileage, but it can improve the sound of your car depending on what you go with. I have Thrush Turbo Mufflers and it has a nice deep sound to it..I love it. (Look under my name to find my thread on my exhaust for sound clips) Magnaflow and Dynomax are also good brands to go with on our cars.

Again welcome to the site and thanks for sharing pics of your car!

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the compliments. The looks of these Bonneville'* really separates them from the common car. I really hate to see Pontiac be discontinued because they always had good looking cars and seemed to be very popular....

As far as tinting goes, what percentage would you guys go on front and rear. I'm kinda leaning toward 35% in the front, and 20% in the rear....what percentages are you guys running right now? Post up some pics if you have them!

Depends on what the legal level in your state is.

I have 15% all the way around on my car..which isn't legal even in FL, but down here you don't get bothered..I think you need like 25% on the front windows here to be legal.
