Clear coat will be fine with it.
Lay the first couple coats on LIGHT, to leave somewhat of a matte finish for the following coats to bind to, then lay on the next two coats about 15 minutes apart, overlapping well to leave a good gloss.

what kind of paint did you use for the black? is it jsut spray? alsoo, whered you get that pontiac symbol, (what part of a car, if its from a junkyard).

my uncle gave me a hand full of emblems...he used to be a body man......so i'm thinking it'* a grill insert on the 87-91 bonneville...if not it might be another model..but definitly in the 80'*

thats kind of what i was hoping, you dont have to have a grill insert for a 97 se style do you? Mines all faded...
on a side note, is it even possible to po those out and replace them?

on my cover i painted it over in black then used a rag with some braakleen to wipe the new paint off the silver lettering the next day before it dried 100%, it looks awesome, but almost TOO stock looking
