I have never been a fan of car bras. I have gotten hood protectors for most of my cars in the past to protect from chips. I did however just get a GM car bra for long trips. My front bumper has considerable road rash and nicks. The hood has the tiniest hint of hood herpes that is starting to show on the top. :(
In your case, your front end is very bad, so protecting it from further nicks probably isn't a concern because it can't get much worse. The good thing about keeping the bra on is to hide to obvious paint damage until you can get it fixed without having to worry about ruining what'* there.
While it should be made to look good, a bra is not meant to be an aesthetic improvement. It'* meant to protect your paint. I would think most people out there wouldn't look at a car with a bra and think the car was ugly, but they would if they saw horrible paint damage.
My front end is still nice enough so I can leave the bra off and not be disgusted, but I think I will keep the bra on since I drive about 100 miles of highway every weekday.
