ahh man, thats too bad :(
im not 100% sure on this, so someone correct me if im wrong, but if they total it, they'll give you the money for the value of your car, and they'll "take" the car, but you will/should have the opportunity to buy it back for a amount of money (usually low like $500 or something) and then you can do the repairs to the car and the titled will be marked totalled but you will still have the same car

Totally sux dude.
I doubt it will be totaled since it is the rear of the car.
most totals happen from the front end.
but if it is............. (vulture) I want parts first
I'm keeding I kid I kid
no seriously, I live close by and we can swap what i want.
I also have a bro-in-law in the body shop business that can hook you up in the dorchester area.

wow, thats alot of money...
make sure if they DO total it they dont try to lowball you on the price... do research and find comparable vehicles for sale in the area to get a higher payout
unforunately, in the local market your car is only worth about 10-11000

I say that damage is somewhere between 4-6K. And it can be done a heck of alot cheaper if you go to a junkyard and get the parts. The pricey item is going to be your rear quarter, but even then $8k is outrageous.
