My Bonneville SSE 88 major body fix is completed!
Hello everyone!
I am pretty proud to announce that I have almost completed
the "in deep" body restoration on my Bonneville SSE 1988.
I purchased this car brand new in Jan. 1989 and have never been able to get rid of it.
Canadian winters did alot of body damages and before joining the club, I was thinking that the day to the car cimetery could be near.
Since I joined the Bonneville club, I am still amaze to see
the tribute that bonnies owners pay to their gems!
Bonneville club helped me to develop the need to restore this great machine.
Thanks to all members who helped me to solve technical problems I faced on the run.
I have created a web page on the cardomain site... if you want to have a peep to it!
More pictures will be loaded soon.

One of my friend leaded the project. Him and I worked during 32 evenings with the result
you saw.
My friend is a private car body repair & painter and mechanic and he charged me only the material
(approx. $1000.00 including paint and material and paint shop location)
The car was completly stripped down to the bone.
You should had see the body after the stripping
My friend told me at this point "let'* create a miracle now"
He told me "if the bottom frame is healthy...everything is possible"
All corrosion/rust were treated in depth (sandblasting/applying "all metal putty" as necessary + welding spare body parts (i.e.wheel opening contours cutted from a scrapped donnor ...well the full ABC of car restoration he told me!
The entire car was treated with a non leak anti-rust before car re-assembly.
My friend told me "this car will last a 1000 years now!"
All doors & trunk wheater strip seals are brand new from GM'* vintage spare parts warehouse. ($450.00)
The 4 original mags wheels have been overhauled ($560.00)
The burgundy formed floor carpet was found new on the web at $134.00
Mechanically, new 4 cargo coils, 4 shocks absorbers Gabriel, 4 new tires Pirelli P3000,
new A/C compressor/new AC/DELCO battery & GM Delco Alternator.
2 new hood rods and a 200 watts Clarion MP3 with 6 news speakers
and a BOOMERANG security system.
The fogs lights are still under repair and should be ready next week.
The sunroof leaks was repaired ingeniously by removing the wheater strip and regluing it
using URETHANE.
The top sleeve remain to be redone by a local facility, I wait to see if the weather strip seal repair has cured the leak problem for good before proceeding with the top sleeve.
Guess what...My wife accused me to have a mistress and now to prove her that I love her more than this car...I promised her to bring her to Hawaii...if she accepts to drive down from Montreal to Vancouver with the bonnie and then place the bonnie on a boat and get a cruise all together!!
Someone wroted down here something like that "you cannot understand, it'* a bonnie thing"
I think this is 100% applicable to me now!

great work...
great work...
The paint job look a lot more attractive now compared how it was new in 1988 when I purchased it.
Today'* paint quality are definitely superior as it was in the 80'*.
The clear base paint play a major role in the final result.
My friend painter added few additional drops of black paint in the original burgundy red color helping to create an outstanding effect as seen.
