Added a 3800 to my 93
You can see the crank damage in this shot! Quite the nasty motor this one was. I was taking it to the ol' shop for scrap. The rotors were just garbage, and the oil pan had shavings and such in it.
These Iron blocks are effin' heavy!

Spiral... I think you are correct here... I have seen the L36 Longblock for $1000 with a good warranty... I'll bet a short block would be in the 700-800 range... And its so true, if there are any problems with the block its self or the crank then things start to get really expensive... By the time you have done all of the work you could have gotten a long block for cheap..
But yes, machine costs can get pretty crazy if there is anything wrong with the block. Even better yet is when they turn a crank, that ends up costing more than just buying a new crank. Crazy machine shops, luckily enough my friends dad owns an automotive machine shop....
