AWWW why not?!?
come on then post a link in his thread to this thread.....
puulllease?
too bad he'* still working on it otherwise I'd like to see him come to the UMM3 in IN july 15-17th.... maybe next year....
twin engine vs twin engine
otherwise Al will have to wait till I am done with turning my 87 lebaron 2.2L turbo into a twin engine car...(i could woop Als ***...)
i dont see a cardomain link of his car does he have one? they seem to load better on this laptop
I want to see more of the ferd!
BTW I am not against ford, just ford cars, well the v8 RWD arent too bad, but I own a 68 F250 and an 86 F150/350 hybrid ford trucks are nicely built (the older ones anyway)
think he'd come down from canada to IL/WI (greatlakes dragway) to race someday when he'* done?

Hi! Twin engined SHOpaz owner checking in here. That'* some awesome work you guys did with the 442. Looking at the pics, you made it almost look easy. Welding isn't my strong suit so I can appreciate the skill it takes to do that.
My project is taking forever because I didn't have the luxury of re-using the donor cars subframe or suspension. The wheel base was way too wide and I would have needed huge fender extensions to cover the tires. I wanted it to looks as stock as possible so I ended up fabricating my own subframe and suspension. Here is my old website http://www.tempo-topaz-performance.com/topazsho It details the first SHO swap, suspension upgrades, etc. There'* some videos in the multi-media section. I havn't had time to set up a website for the dual engine project but all the pics I have are dumped here: http://www.tempo-topaz-performance.com/DEproject/
As of right now the engine/subframe/suspension are mounted in the car. I'm waiting on a bunch of parts from Summit to do the fuel system, exhaust and shifter. Then I've got to get the clutch and cooling figured out. (yes, I'm using dual 5 speed transmissions)
I own 7 Pontiacs as well so sadly this probably won't turn into a Ford vs GM flame war...lol! But if I'm ever down your way I'd love to meet up. Infact I (and the car) drove through Chicago and Indiana in 2002 and 2003 attending the SHO convention. This year it'* in Indianapolis July 18-21 and I wanted to go so badly, but there was no way to have the car ready in time.
Anyways, it was great seeing what other people are doing out there. Take care guys and I'll keep in touch.

Hello Olypic!
finally someone else who'* enough of a psychotic gearhead to put twin engines in a car!
this is the first time I have been able to converse with someone working on a 12 cylinder powerhouse!
the way I see it, it'* one of the easiest ways to double the power in a modern FWD car....
glad to see someone tackling two manual tranny'* we thought of it but the additional linkages were too much of a headache plus I like torque and the Tq multiplication of an auto is pricless...
Just wait till you drive her! talk about a rush!
our only real test was a 0-70mph run in 6.25 seconds in under an 1/8th of a mile....you can check out the vid at CARCRAFT.com in the readers rides live section....
We will be at the UMM3 (MyMonte.com & W-body.com) meet july 15-17th at US41 dragway in Morroco IN for her grand unveiling now that the full rollcage is in with 5 pt harnesses are in...
look forward to chatting with you!
maybe we can meet/race at Great lakes Dragway in Wisconsin someday!
regards, James Schlimthecarguy@comcast.net

Here'* a quick question for you: where did you get your throttle cable? I've searched the net a bit and havn't found much.
I was at Great Lakes Dragway back in 03, maybe I'll make it back sometime.

the manufacturer of the cable sheath hase form pressed cable (the outside of the cable is pressed round instad of the strands creating an uneven outside surface) that with the one barrel end pressed on was 45$ for the 20ft length we wanted...
the leader line works fine! but the braided should be better!
the front ataches to the TB of the front engine (on a progressive opening cam...the rear 3engine doesnt overpower the front till the front is about 70% throttle then the rear throttle goes to WOT almost imediatly) and at the rear engine I used my Bridgport (Ok ENCO but same diff) to mill through 3/8 inch bolts and drill a pocket for the steel cable sheath end covers, and now I have adjustments at both ends!
VOILA! Redneck engineered!
BTW the first gen throttle cabe was a string....we really wanted to drive her that bad!!!

Thanks for the info! Check this out: http://s2.pegasusautoracing.com/045.pdf I think I might give them a call. Maybe they can hook me up with a custom clutch cable as well.
My fuel cell, braided lines and exhaust hardware should be here shortly so hopefully I'll have some progress to show next weekend.

Nice tip on the throttle cable! you can see where it get'* $$$ pretty quick!
our shifter cable is a custom Morse cable (just over 14 ft long) from Hurst so it has push/pull capabilities but that was 100$!
does your shift mechanism need a push/pull cable? or are they tension only (return spring on levers on trans?) you might want to try a local PLOW equipment store as most have an extensive aray of fittings/ends available locally
the site posted has some fairly low ratings on their push/pull cables so I dont know how wll they would hold up to power shifting
use a spring gauge and check the force required on the shift/clutch arms to see where you are at...the clutch I know is a pull only so their 400lb rating on those cables would probably be more than sufficient,
just the shifting cables are making me wonder....
yeah rjolly it'* real nice to be able to talk with a fellow psychotic gearhead...we nuts have to stick together LOL
show the world what REAL torque steer is all about!
I checked some more pics of your car olympic (telephony modem on shop laptop painfully slow...) real nice work! did everything exactly the way i would have!
Al and I cant wait for a head to head race Now!!!!
we got alittle more displacment but you have like 4 times the cams lol
so when the 442 is getting it'* hybrid and turbocharger this winter you think we will be able to play next track season? we should all have the bugs worked out by then....
have fun with the summit parts! most of our $$ is in the fuel system...that Aeromotive 100psi pump and ALL the AN 8 and 6 fittings adds up fast dont it!
keep in touch! James and Al...and the 442

I ordered a couple of push/pull shifter cables from Summit. My Topaz has a rod shifter and my 89 SHO parts car has a cable shifter so I think I can bastardize them together and have a single shifter controlling both transmissions. Rod shift front, cable shift rear.
I hear ya about the torque steer! Both my trannys have Quaife torque biasing differentials and they can get a little squirrley when they're hunting for traction...lol!
